Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Tracy Walker and I will be your child’s Functional Skills teacher this school year. This is my fourteenth year teaching special education and my eighth at Lowrance. My belief is that all children can learn and should be treated with respect. My goals this year are to teach your children the functional skills they will need to become independent in their own home, school, and community, as well as to help them accept responsibility for their own behavior. These goals are accomplished through well prepared lessons, setting appropriate limits, giving students responsibilities in class, and teaching them the skills needed to be self-managers of their behavior.
Your help at home is very important in making this a successful year for your child. I firmly believe that your child receives the best education possible when you and I work as a team. If we work together, the success that your child can achieve this year will be limitless. Communication and support from both the teacher and the parent can only strengthen your child’s role as a student. Please feel free to communicate with me about your child, whether it’s questions, concerns, celebrations, or milestones. You may contact me at school either by calling the school office (416-2330) or emailing me at [email protected].
I am very much looking forward to a fun and successful school year. We are going to have a wonderful year!
